Slingmap is a Chrome extension for developers who work with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) sites. This page explains, in plain terms, what data the extension touches and where it goes. There isn't much of it.
Everything you configure in Slingmap, the sites you set up, the example URLs you teach it, and the rules it infers, is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). None of it is ever sent to us or to any server we operate. If you uninstall the extension, this data is deleted along with it.
The one exception is your license, which has to be checked against a server to work at all. That's covered below.
On pages belonging to a site you've configured, Slingmap reads the links and images present on that page to run the checks you explicitly ask for (Check Links, Check Assets). This happens only on domains you've added yourself, and only when you click a button, not automatically or in the background.
To check a link or asset, the extension makes a standard web request to that same URL, exactly as your browser already does when you visit it. We don't log this activity, aggregate it, or send it anywhere beyond what's needed to show you the result on screen.
To check that a license is valid, the extension contacts a small service we operate at license.slingmap.com. It receives your license key and a randomly generated identifier for that installation — nothing else. No email address, no name, no browsing activity, no information about the sites you've configured.
That service forwards the check to Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider, and stores one thing of its own: the date and time each installation last checked in. We use it for a single purpose — knowing which installation has been idle longest, so that when you reinstall or move to a new computer we can free up your old slot automatically instead of locking you out. It isn't used to profile you, and it isn't shared with anyone.
These records are keyed to a license, not to a person. If you'd like them deleted, email us and we'll remove them.
On your side, your license key and activation status are kept in your browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.sync), which means Chrome may sync them across devices where you're signed into the same browser account, the same way it syncs your bookmarks. That's handled by Chrome, not by us.
Site configurations and license status live in your browser's local storage for as long as the extension is installed. You can remove a single site at any time from the Options page, or remove everything by uninstalling the extension.
On our licensing service, the check-in records described above expire on their own after 90 days of inactivity. Lemon Squeezy retains transaction and license records according to its own privacy policy, which applies to the checkout process.
Slingmap is a professional tool for software developers and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children.
